    Hi everyone!
Does anyone know of a reference comparing the best full-immersion executive
training programs in the world? A friend who is a top executive at a global
pharmaceutical firm wants to take a 3-6 week "learning sabbatical." He can
go anywhere in the world, and the quality of the faculty and program, and
the profile of the participants are the key factors (price is not important).

He is looking to study leadership, strategy, organisation, and strategic
HRM sometime during either Fall, 2000 or Spring, 2001. If anyone knows of
one or more world-class programs in these areas, please respond either on
    or off-list.

    Thanks a lot!
    Bryan

Wouldn't "full-immersion" mean the actual, on-site job? Like an internship?
Classroom training, no matter how intense, does not equate full-immersion, I
    think.

Unless they are given real situations in a real environment, no on says a
classroom need have desks in a square configuration...

It seems to me that 3-6 weeks is not much time to do a full-immersion
executive training program (unless you are looking for a workshop
    type situation)

If your friend is interested in more depth, they might want to look at the
offerings of Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, Canada
    http://www.royalroads.ca/

Some of their programs include (copied from their programs page - there
    are many links):

CSE Executive Development Program In Conflict Management
Managing Relationships, Building Consensus and Resolving
    Conflict Series Information
Conference Home Page *coming soon (access restricted to
    registered participants)
MA Conflict Analysis and Management Program Information
    Learning Community

Science, Technology and Environment Division Home Page
    Applied Research Division (ARD)
    BSc Environmental Science Program Information
MA/MSc Environment and Management Program Information
Learning Community (access restricted to registered
    participants)
Managing Environmental and Social Concerns for Mining (MESCM)
New Dates! MESCM is now being delivered from the 4 -
    24 June, 2000.

Organizational Leadership and Learning Division Home Page
    MA Leadership and Training
    Executive Leadership Programs

    Management Division Home Page
    BCom Entrepreneurial Management Program Information
    Master of Business Administration
    Executive Management
    Public Relations & Communication Management
    Human Resources Management
    Digital Technologies Management

They are developing a very positive reputation for VERY applied programs.

    best regards

Suggest he contact GE's Management Development Institute, Crotonville, NY.
They sometimes let non-GE people participate in their general manager
    session.
It is about as full-immersion as you can get (even uses psycho-theater
techniques) outside actually being in the executive office every day.
