Some attending AOM in Chicago may be interested in a special exhibit at
the Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies, which runs through November 28.
It is entitled, "Workers and Revolutionaries: The Jewish Labor
Movement." "Created by . . . Israel's Museum of the Jewish Diaspora . .
. this exhibit offers a voyage to the world of the past, when the labor
movement was in its infancy. Among the utopian ideas that emerged in the
late 1800s, the Jewish labor movement spearheaded the struggle for
political organizations and trade unions. Jewish immigrants to Western
Europe and the United States, influenced by Russian intellectuals and
revolutionaries, spread the seeds of the then-radical idea of workers'
rights."
The exhibit traces the history through photos and documents.
The Institute is located at 618 Michigan Avenue; phone 312-322-1747.
