The division is about to go through a schedule re-bid with one of the unions.
It is expected to be a difficult period of transition and adjustment. We are
also implementing a re-design of the work processes for greater safety and cost
efficiencies. So there is a learning curve that is expected to be included in
the variable mix.
On top of that, our HR department representative has indicated that the recovery
time after the negotiations can be as much as six months or more with $80k
incurred in lawyer fees during the union's grievance process.
I am looking for ways to reduce the time or lessen the cost associated with the
re-bid. So, event ideas, books, articles, web sites, discussion and brainstorms
are welcome.
