For those of you who are interested, I've added several new articles to my
articles web site. One deals with the Goals Grid, which is a useful tool
for getting clear about all your goals and objectives. Another is a paper
about Solution Engineering, which contains what I think is a really good
example of Solution Engineering in action. And I've added several pieces
on strategy. As always, these are freely available.

    Enjoy...

My apologies for the cross-posting but I'll be brief.

A request from Daimler/Chrysler led to the preparation of a brief
(one-page) paper on management, leadership and governance. You can find it
on my articles web site: http://home.att.net/~nickols/articles.htm

Over the holidays, and in spare moments since, I've reorganized the web
site, adding a consulting section with several papers from an old friend
and colleague, Harvey Bergholz. He's got a lot to say and he's an easy read.

I've also added knowledge management (KM) and communities of practice (CoP)
sections to which I have recently added more pieces.

    Enjoy...

I've updated my articles web site again, adding two that should be of
interest to many people on these lists. One is a review of the Heriot-Watt
distance learning MBA program. It appears in the commentary section of
this month's issue of Technology Source under the title of "Let the Games
Begin." The other is titled "Technology and the Future of Higher
Education" and it appeared in the Nov-Dec issue of Jossey-Bass's On the
Horizon. I've added links to both pieces under the General Interest
heading. Simply click on the link below to go there.

    Fred,
Do you have any information on your site about the basic business skills
every good consultant should hold? I am seeking to help a client find the
need for a series of basic programs used for giving new consultants these
    skills.

There is a consulting section on my site and it has several good articles
by Harvey Bergholz, a long-time friend and associate. A few years back, he
and I developed a basic consulting skills training for new-hires at one of
the world's largest accounting/consulting firms. This was a coached,
self-study package (with principals as the coaches) and it covered topics
like problem solving, consulting skills, time management, engagement
management, the economics of a consulting firm and so on.

If you have the time, I encourage you to read all Harvey's articles,
starting with The Consultant as Equilateralist.
