Howdy All,
I read Allan's request for our ideas about 'off-the-shelf" organizational
surveys/instruments for diagnosing culture. I have seen many many many off
the shelf tools, many by respected companies. I really feel that many of
them are worthwhile depending on what/how you are going to use them and the
expected acceptance needed. If they are for just awareness or idea
generation (training) then I believe any reputable source will work based on
the area you want to address. However, for a comparative data base-norm
values, statistically validated, I have used the Survey of Organization
(SOO) from Rensis Likert Associates, Un. of Michigan. It has been about 10
years since I used that one- I ran three sessions over about 5 years and it
did prove a valuable tool for assisting with organizational change. I have
no financial interest in the co. (but wouldn't mind).
