    "PRODUCTIVITY AND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION"

    * Best Paper Prize: Can $ 3,000.00 *

ASAC-IFSAM 2000 and CFBSD (Canadian Federation of Business Schools Deans)
announce an international competition for Best Papers on "Productivity and
Management Education". A prize of Can $ 3,000.00 will be awarded to the best
    paper.

    "PRODUCTIVITY AND MANAGEMENT EDUCATION"

The 20th century has been marked by the unprecedented importance given to
management in general, and to management studies and business
schools in particular. Surprisingly however, on the verge of the new
millenium, little is known about the contribution of management education
to productivity. Recognizing this need, ASAC-IFSAM 2000 and CFBSD have
decided to devote an entire conference session to a reflection on this theme.

    THE BEST PAPER COMPETITION

We are interested in state-of-the-art papers on the theme of "Productivity
and Management Education", at the corporate or national levels. An expert
committee will select the three best papers, which will be presented at
ASAC-IFSAM 2000, in a showcase session moderated by the Chair of the
Canadian Federation of Business School Deans. Papers should be written in
English. They should comprise between 5000 and 8000 words.

BEST PAPER AWARD / PUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY

The authors of the best paper will receive an award of Can $ 3,000.00, and
the three best papers will be considered for fast track reviewing by the
    Canadian Journal of Administrative Sciences.

    HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Papers should be sent to Dr Jean Pasquero, Chair of ASAC-IFSAM 2000, or to
Dr Jean-Marie Toulouse, Chair of CFBSD, before March 30th, 2000.

    ASAC-IFSAM 2000 IN MONTREAL

ASAC-IFSAM 2000 is a unique international event bringing together
management scholars from the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada
(ASAC), and from the International Federation of Scholarly Associations of
Management (IFSAM). IFSAM is an umbrella organization of 16 national
scholarly associations and academies of management, representing more than
30 countries. The Montreal conference will be IFSAM's fifth biennal World
Congress, following those held in Tokyo (1992), Dallas (1994, hosted by the
    American Academy of
Management), Paris (1996), and Alcala de Henares/Madrid (1998).

ASAC-IFSAM 2000 will be held in Montreal, Canada, one of the most vibrant
cities of North America, July 8-11, 2000. The conference overlaps the
Montreal International Jazz Festival, and will take place at the University
of Quebec at Montreal, a few blocks away from the Festival site.

The theme of the Asac-Ifsam 2000 conference is "Taking Stock", a
multidisciplinary reflection on the theoretical advances of the past century
and on the challenges that lie ahead in the next, in the general domain of
    management and the administrative sciences.
