Jossey-Bass Publishers has released a new book that may be of interest
to those on this list. "A Spiritual Audit of Corporate America" is by
Ian I. Mitroff and Elizabeth A. Denton.

This book explores spirituality, religion, and values in the workplace.
The authors share the results of surveys and interviews they conducted
with over 200 organizational leaders. What emerged from the research are
five models of organizational spirituality. Mitroff and Denton share the
strengths and limitations of each of the models. The last chapter of the
book blends the best from each of the models to propose a best-practice
model for integrating soul into an organization.

According to Mitroff and Denton, the future success of a business
depends upon the organization's spirituality. They contend that
spirituality may well be the ultimate competitive advantage and the
management of spirituality is one of the most fundamental tasks of
    management.

The authors strive to bring a scientific approach to the study of
spirituality in organizations. At the same time, the authors are
passionate about the need to create soul-nurturing organizations. The
book is worth reading. It can give you a way to talk to corporate types
    about spirituality in the workplace.

    Hello,

These lines are from a newcomer:
I was interested to read the critic of the book:
"A Spiritual Audit of Corporate America"

It does remind that the new trend in the management world is about...
    spirituality.
Is this the new "competitive advantage"?
    I would think so!

Actually, at the conference of the Association of Management in San Diego
last August quite a few papers were dealing with spirituality and
    management (leadership).

You may want to take a look at my paper which deals with these issues:
    2001: On becoming a leader http://www.orbina.com/sandiego.html

    Sincerely,

    Philippe

It would be really good if you use gender inclusive terms for 'the
manager'. When you refer to the manager as 'he' it reinforces existing
    inequality.
