For an interesting and useful differentiation I recommend John Kotter's
book, " A Force for Change: How Leadership Differs from Management." He
demonstrates the organizational need for both sets of actions, recognizes
that effectiveness in either requires skill and intelligence, and shows how
both involve multiple roles.
