    CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

    MED Members:

The Public and Nonprofit Division of the Academy hopes to take the
lead in a preconference session at the Toronto meeting on the theme of
creating and sustaining nonprofit management education programs in
schools of business, public administration, public health, social
work, and similar institutional settings. The growth of nonprofit
management programs in recent years and extensive discussions among
other programs who are contemplating such programs suggest the
    timeliness of such a session.

Our current conception is for a group of panelists from experienced
academic programs, new programs, wannabee programs, and nonprofit
executive practitioners to engage the questions of what works, what
doesn't, and what's needed. Obviously we are still formulating the
session, but we envision a highly participative session with lots of
questions and discussion. Ideally, we would like a session of 2 to 3
hours on Saturday afternoon, August 5th. Both Health Care Management
and your own division have expressed enthusiasm about co-sponsoring
    the session.

I am sending this message to solicit one or two participants who would
be interested enough in the theme to be involved as: a) panelists,
or, b) organizers. Realistically, specific questions will not be
formulated until some time in the new year, but panelists could
probably formulate answers during a plane ride to Toronto. Organizers
would help formulate the questions. Please let me know if you would
be interested in participating or if you know of somebody else from
MED who would make an ideal panelist or organizer. (Sure, go ahead,
volunteer you friends. If you prefer I will promise not to tell them
    who volunteered their names.)

Thanks for your time and interest.
