Instead of attachments ... put the file on a webpage and include the
webpage URL in your email message for those who want to download it.
I don't like attachments -- you have to sort them out from the
attachments you care about. Most have funny names ... some contain
    viruses, etc.

I would agree with this but for the fact that it assumes that
those who wish to send attachments also have access to a webpage
and the means for putting the attachment there. So, the argument
is that it isn't up to the receiver to adjust his/her means of
receipt, but for the sender to adjust his/her means of
transmission. Bit of a self-defeating argument if you ask me.

Having said that, I must be the only person on any of the lists
currently attracting the point of this discussion who hasn't
received the attachments. If everyone is talking about the
banners that some people have found comes with free email systems
then I can't see the problem. The only attachments that I can
recall have cause my system some despair have been those that
I've specifically requested or known about their imminent
    transmission.

Easy to remedy. Here's an offer I have made in the past with
respect to articles, and things of value (note that doesn't mean
brochures). If you have something you would like up on the web
that has value, I'd be glad to make it available at my web site(s),
which garner several thousand visits a day. Then if you wish, you
    can simply post the link.

How odd that you would continue to render opinions on this subject
without actually knowing what the attachment was, but heck, it
takes all kinds (some kinds I can't figure out at all).

Now, the owner has spoken (as if that was necessary for the
considerate people on this list). Can we please stop wasting even
    more space?
