(PRINT and KEEP THIS MESSAGE and DIFFUSE it to your colleagues)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

CALL FOR PAPERS: ASAC-IFSAM 2000 JOINT INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE:
"TAKING STOCK" Montreal July 8-11 2000
Deadline for ALL submissions: 15th January 2000 (it has been extended!)

MONTREAL is the place to be in July 2000
... to meet management scholars and teachers from around the world
... to reflect on the state of management knowledge, education and practice
... to enjoy the Montreal International Jazz Festival (June 28-July 9 just
overlapping the beginning of the conference)

IFSAM and ASAC are pleased to invite management scholars from around the
world to participate in their Joint International Conference in Montreal,
    Canada, July 8-11, 2000.

The International Federation of Scholarly Associations of Management
(IFSAM) brings together associations and academies of management from over
30 countries in five continents. The Administrative Sciences Association of
Canada (ASAC) will be the host of IFSAM's 5th World Congress in Montreal,
following those held in Tokyo (1992), Dallas (1994, Paris (1996) and Alcalá
de Henares (Madrid-Spain, 1998). Participants are expected from the U.S. and
Canada, Europe, Latin America and Asia.

    "TAKING STOCK"
The conference theme is "Taking Stock." The idea is to step back and take a
look at what management scholars have contributed to knowledge, education
and practice in the 20th century and look ahead to the future. We think that
this is a theme with a lot of potential and we're organizing some very
special sessions to take advantage of it.

SUBMIT YOUR BEST WORK TO YOUR NATIONAL PROGRAM CHAIR
Contributors may submit regular format articles (10 single-spaced pages
maximum), symposia or poster papers. Each member association of IFSAM has
designated a National Program Chair who will be responsible for selecting
papers from that country. His or her coordinates are indicated on the web
site (above). To help make this into a really great conference, please join
in and submit your best work. To ensure that your submission can be included
in the Proceedings, don't forget to follow the style guide (available on the
web). Also, make sure your submission arrives before 15th January 2000.

THINK ABOUT ORGANIZING AN "INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM" SESSION
Also, we are encouraging a special type of submission format: international
symposia that bring together scholars from at least two different countries
to discuss an issue of common interest, preferably related to the conference
theme. So take a look at the instructions on our web site and see whether
you might be able to put together a winning proposal. International
symposium proposals should be sent to Professor Ann Langley, Departement
strategie des affaires, Universite du Quebec a Montreal, C.P. 6192
    Succursale Centre-Ville, Montreal, H3C 4R2, Canada (langley.ann@uqam.ca)

    WELCOME TO DOCTORAL STUDENTS
Please let your doctoral students know about the conference too (perhaps by
forwarding this message). It is a great opportunity for them to network with
students and faculty in other countries and to present a paper. A doctoral
consortium will also be organized prior to the conference.

    MONTREAL AND ALL THAT j*A*z*Z
Last but not least, Montreal's international *j*A*z*Z festival (400
concerts, including 300 free outdoor shows, 1 million participants) is
planned for 28th June - 9th July just overlapping the beginning of the
conference. The conference site will be the Université du Québec à Montréal
right downtown and within walking distance from the jazz festival location.
So think about coming early to take it in and to see the sights.

Looking forward to seeing you in Montreal,
Jean Pasquero (Conference Chair, UQAM, pasquero.jean@uqam.ca),
André Petit (Conference Co-Chair, Université de Sherbrooke,
    apetit@adm.usherb.ca)
Ann Langley (Program coordinator, UQAM, langley.ann@uqam.ca)
