This is a false statement.
Some MAY be able to use filters but not all email programs CAN do
filtering. Secondly, filtering is done only from the ISP to the User. The
glut caused by the unwanted attachment must still be handled by the
internet which, as we all know, tends to be overloaded. Good citizenship,
as well as good management, includes collaboration to avoid the Tragedy of
the Commons.
The solution is very simple. State on this list that you have a document
and invite anyone interested to contact you directly. You can then send a
file only to those wanting your attachment. And for the participants who
want to "take advantage of technology" why aren't you simply offering us
the opportunity to download the file from your web site? You do have
download on your web site, don't you?
