Charlie, I agree with your approach to owning the list. Moderating a
culture is excellent and I don't hear a lot of problems with that.
Frankly, I believe everyone appreciates the freedom of a semi-virtual
culture. BUT! What rankles me, and others who have posted recently, is
this: The person from Israel made a statement, you responded, and then
Randall Kindley very unkindly pushes the reply button and says thanks
charlie without exercising the good sense to know that he has just
retransmitted the message from Israel, your message and his own two word
message all over again. What's up with that?! Now, I must go back through
and delete a bunch of duplication because some bonehead doesn't think.
That is the weakness created by an unmoderated list. If you collected the
messages, reviewed them and killed such crap, we would all benefit. By you
not moderating, everyone on the list suffers but you.

With over 1000 people on this list it's not too surprising that there are
differences of opinion from time to time, most recently with regard to
attachments and what to forward and what to delete. Charlie Wankel has done
a phenomenal job as listmaster, and I think we should accept his
recommendations when we experience controversies like this.

    I couldn't agree more.
By the way, it is time to go back to our academic discussions.

I found the thread about attachments just a little less than professional for
people who say they are professionals.

I leave for Milan, Italy tomorrow for about 8 days. I hope we can keep in
    touch.
