Another great example of Esteban's point: Ollie North. I think one of the
key things that individuals need to be taught concerning email is that
there is no such thing as a "single copy". Unlike paper-based
communications where any person is capable of shredding or losing
inconvenient letters, memos, and reports, successfully shredding all copies
of email is beyond the capability of all but the most technically
proficient, and even they require significant levels of security access and
knowledge.
What this says to me is that an important rule of thumb is: never say
something in email you would not want the world to see.
