For all those who answered my call for information (late November) regarding
the above and for those who didn't but are interested and might have further
    suggestions, here goes:

    1) Sharon Livesy (USA) suggested materials available from Intercultural
    Press in Yarmouth, Maine.
Example of material: Heart of the Bull, about Bull and an American
subsidiary (one of Hewlett Packard's?) the firm acquired.

    2) Jim Guthrie, University of Kansas (USA)uses "The Heart of the Nation"
(approx. 1992) from "The Challenge to America" series which compares and
contrasts education systems in the U.S., Japan and Germany. Meridian
Resources Associates (www.meridianglobal.com) produces a number of
videotapes with US/Asia emphasis. Examples: "Working with Americans", a
training tape for East Asians in how to relate to Americans when doing
business; "Globally speaking" looks at how Westerners should adapt
management and leadership styles when in Asia . Kenneth Law of Honk Kong
University of Science and Technology said he's pleased with the video series
"Managing in China" ordered through Meridian. Jim also suggests "Doing
Business in The Americas" series (from Big World Inc. ) (including separate
tapes on Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. He finds the tapes fairly
lively, briefly covering history, economy, etiquette, business
    relationships, communicating, negociating and management

    3) With regards to the Big World series (see above)(www.bwvideo.com), David
Stephen of Colorado State U. (USA) gives another example: the Fons
Trompenaar video featuring some cross-cultural ideas in his book, Riding the
Waves of Culture from the Live Abroad/Work Abroad videos good for
international assignment preparation. He particularly likes using the
international negociations film and the country series. The firm services all
continents so compatability problems should not exist. Perusal copies may be
    requested before purchasing.

    4) Joe Champoux, of the U. of New Mexico, suggests consulting film
    malterials in the following database:
Go to asm.unm.edu, Courses' Data Files, his name, and folder "filmtchg".
Word documents may be downloaded for latest on teaching with film.

    5) Dick Barth of the University of Northern British Columbia (Canada) uses
the following for 4th yr. undergrads: "The Borderless World"(30 min.), "It's
a Jungle out there" (50 min.) a BBC production, he thinks, ordered through
    Int'l Tele-Film, Mississauga, Ont. Canada fax: 905- 629-1211. McGill
University , Montreal offers "A Portable Life" (30 min.) through their
continuing education/ studies services or the Faculty of Management.

    6) ABB's Percy Barnevik interview done by Manfred Kets de Vries (of INSEAD)
is used by Paul Evans at INSEAD (France) particularly in connection with the
author's leadership case on Barnevik and ABB the case study which is
available through the case clearing house.

    7) I personally have learned about, but not yet used, Sheila Puffer's
NorthEastern University) series "Venturing Inside Russia, Four Executives
discuss their Joint Ventures" illustrating how American and Canadian
managers discuss their experiences in Russia and share lessons learned.
(1991-92) VHS format, 4 tapes, each 20-30 min. in length. Order through
    Sheila at fax (617) 373-2056.

    8) I have used a German University produced tape by H. Wachter, W. Laaser,
    K. Blettner (1994), ordered through Fern Universitat, on intra Europe an
expansion and joint ventures and the HRM issues involved. Nothing flashy but
gives a European look at doing business across European borders..good for
undergrads.Hartmut Wachter can give information about ordering tape
(available in German and English) be reached at Universitat Trier Fax
    (Germany) (651) 201-3932.

Others who replied, whether list members or colleagues of, expressed
    interest in the results.
For Joe Champoux who is interested in symposia ideas for the Toronto 2000
Academy of Management meeting, this might be a interesting food for thought.
I'd personally be interested in expanding my knowledge of not only available
but useful video material, and in different languages, for IHRM courses.
    Any further information is welcome.

    Thanks to all,

    Krista Finstad
    Ph.D candidate
Lecturer at Universite de Saint Quentin-Versailles and Institut Commercial
    de Nancy , France

Just a spin-off question. Do any of you know whether instructional
videos of quality are available on the net for purchase? I couldn't
find any significant ones at amazon.com and am looking for
alternate suggestions of online catalogs, etc.

    Thanks.
