CALL FOR SYMPOSIA SUBMISSIONS on the use of Groupware in Management
Education and Management Development
AOM Meetings in Toronto: August 4-9, 2000
Dear Colleagues,
Groupware (or collaborative systems, group computing, collaborative
computing) is becoming more popular in facilitating discussions and
creating collaborative environments in the workplace (e.g.,
decision-making). As a tool these information systems are also finding
their way into management education. For example, in academic classrooms
groupware is being used to bring together distance education students and
to create a mechanism for guest speakers to "visit" when they can't be
physically present. In my own case, I have used a specific web-based
groupware application for organizational behavior exercises where I want to
"hold constant" potential impacts of time and non-verbal communication.
It the spirit of helping to fill-up your holiday season with work, please
let me, as MED's Chair of GroupWare, invite you to submit any interests you
may have in participating in a symposium that brings together applications
of groupware in Management Education or Development.
If you are interested in contributing to this proposal please communicate
with me directly (i.e., off of the list) at
eveleth@uidaho.edu. Please send
an email message to me that briefly describes your use of groupware in
Management Education or Development. Keeping in mind the AOM theme of
"time" I will review the ideas and look for a common thread that will tie
each application together.
