  • 1.  Contemporary Readings in Strategy

    Posted 10-14-2009 02:59
I am offering a Seminar Course in Strategy for MBA consisting of contemporary (2008-2009) articles. The students already had a course in Strategy which was textbook and case based.

The objective in this course is to develop in the students the habit of updating on strategy literature and using the insights from such updating in the firms they join. I am planning for 10 articles spanning Positioning, RBV, Dynamic Capabilities, Boundaries of Firms, Strategy Implementation, etc.

Suggestions are welcome and I shall compile the suggestions and send them back to the Group.

    Sorry for cross-postings.

    With Warm Regards,

My articles web site contains several papers about various aspects of strategy, ranging from definitions and meanings to the notion that strategy is execution. If you go to www.skullworks.com and click on the link to strategy, you can see if any suit your purposes.

I would highly suggest using the On-Point article from the Harvard Business Review by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras titled "Building Your Company's Vision."  After all, without the kind of vision that they are talking about you have no real strategy.  We must stop teaching 5 year strategic plans that get redone every year and are only paid attention to when they are being redone.
