Self-Assessment of Knowledge: Reflections on and Reactions to Sitzmann et al's (2010) Article

    Self-Assessment of Knowledge

    Friday, Aug 6 2010 10:30AM - 12:30PM at Le Palais Des Congres in 511E

By now, many of you have had opportunity to read the article by Sitzmann and colleagues and the multi-disciplinary reactions to the piece in AMLE's latest issue. Next Friday will provide a unique opportunity to interact with many of these authors during the Academy meetings in Montreal. We are particularly pleased that our essayists from the communication education (Lori Carrell) and medical education (Karen Mann) communities will be joining us for this discussion.

The structure for the panel discussion will be as follows: First, the authors will discuss of the development process for Sitzmann et al.'s article. Second, the responding essay authors will describe their initial reactions to the article and how they developed their essays. Third, we will have a time for structured interactions between the panelists, leaving ample time for questions and commentary from the audience. We plan to conclude the session with a discussion of potential "next steps" for scholars, institutions, management learning and education and SOTL research as a result of the conversation that these articles generate. So for those interested in learners, learning and education research, and/or hearing insights on publishing works in AMLE, please join us next Friday morning!
