    Colleagues

I am currently working on Volume VIII LMX Leadership Series tentatively titled East Meets West: Chinese Career Guanxi and Western Interpersonal Strategic Alliance Networks.  As often stated, guanxi networks are key in Chinese work organizations (Chen & Chen, 2004; Chen & Lee, 2007; Chen & Miller, 2011; Kirkman & Law, 2005; Luo, 2007; Morris and Leung, 2011).  Sino-Western theory of leadership networks have focused on guanxi and interpersonal strategic alliances (Graen, 2012a).  My research with Sino-Western joint ventures has convinced me that for Western business people to join Chinese guanxi, they must understand the Chinese leadership philosophies from Confucianism to legalism to Maoism to Dengism to Chinese capitalism in relation to Western strategic business alliances (Graen, 2012b).  Some Western managers in Sino-Western joint ventures have been successful in joining guanxi networks at work (Graen, Hui, Gu, 2004).  I would be very interested in any chapter ideas you may have.  Please send them to me a lmxlotus@aol.com.  I will personally respond to each proposal.  Thank you very much.

Happy Chinese New Year -- Dragon!
