    Colleagues,

The Summer 2010 issue (Vol. 4, No. 3) of the Journal of Human Resources Education is now available. The issue includes two articles, an exercise, and a review of three PHR/SPHR test preparation guides. The first article is a case study of an online course preparing individuals for professional certification in human resources. The second article reviews commonalities and differences among undergraduate and graduate capstone courses in human resources. The exercise presents a field-based learning experience that allows students to investigate and analyze an organization’s HR practices and policies from an integrated, strategic perspective. The book review compares the content of three popular test preparation guides for professional certification in human resources management.

This issue, as well as past issues, can be accessed at http://business.troy.edu/jhre. JHRE is a quarterly, online publication of the Sorrell College of Business at Troy University and is listed in Cabell’s Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Management.

Thank you for your interest and support of JHRE.

The Fall 2010 issue (Vol. 4, No. 4) of the Journal of Human Resources Education is now available. This issue includes an article describing how a collective bargaining course was redesigned based on the concept of “distributive cognition.” It also includes two exercises for classroom use that illustrate important HRM concepts. One exercise relates performance appraisal ratings to merit pay allocations; the second presents an ethical situation for student discussion. Book summaries concerning the topics of negotiation and performance appraisal are also included.

    Dear Colleague,

The Fall 2011 issue (Vol. 5, No. 4) of the Journal of Human Resources Education is now available. The issue includes an article on graduate student motivation that proposes that to design successful graduate programs for the working professional three areas of research must be explored: measurement of motivation, analysis of the adult learner skill set, and the training of graduate faculty in the delivery of course content. The issue also contains two experiential exercises. The first provides HR students with experience in collecting and using job analysis information to design HR processes; the second is a cross-disciplinary exercise in employee selection. Finally, the issue presents a description of three new offerings from SHRM for 2012.

This issue, as well as past issues, can be accessed at http://business.troy.edu/jhre.
