    ELSIN Conference: 'Developing learning within and across disciplines: Evidence from research and practice'

     

    Dear colleague

     

    The University of Antwerp extents a cordial invitation to attend the 16th Annual Conference of the Education, Learning, Styles & Individual differences Network. The conference is an international forum for the exchange of knowledge on theory, research and practice in the field of styles, learning and individual differences in both education and business.

    Conference theme

     

    In recent years, scholars and researchers have devoted considerable attention has been devoted to research on the development of learning within educational and business settings, as well as the ways in which this learning can be invoked. The various disciplines have much to learn from each other with regard to this topic. The major theme of the conference is thus 'Developing learning within and across disciplines: Evidence from research and practice'. ELSIN 2011 particularly welcomes submissions on one of the following key issues:

     

    ·         Development of learning throughout education and professional careers

    ·         Implications of style for teaching and management

    ·         Research on workplace learning

    ·         Individual differences in learning and how to take them into account

    ·         Differentiation and style coaching

    ·         Good practices: putting research into practice

    ·         Methodological issues

    ·         Test development and psychometrics

     

    Keynote speakers are as follows:

    ·         Prof. Dr. Sari Lindblöm-Ylänne, Professor of Higher Education at Helsinki University, Director of the Centre for Research and Development of Higher Education at Helsinki University. President of the European Association of Research on Learning and Instruction

    • Prof. Dr. Maria Kozhevnikov, Professor of Radiology at the <st1:placename w:st="on">Harvard</st1:placename> <st1:placename w:st="on">Medical</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">School</st1:placetype>, Associate in Neuroscience at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Massachusetts General</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">Hospital</st1:placetype></st1:place>
    • Prof. Dr. Mien Segers, Professor of Corporate Learning at <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:placename w:st="on">Maastricht</st1:placename> <st1:placetype w:st="on">University</st1:placetype></st1:place>

    Workshops will be hosted on the following topics:

    ·         Multilevel analysis

    ·         Publishing in scholarly journals

    ·         Qualitative data analysis

    Conference formats

    Contributions to the conference can be empirical, theoretical/conceptual or practice-oriented, but all should be conceptually, theoretically and methodologically sound. Special attention should be paid to the relevance and value of submissions for research on learning and individual differences in education or business. ELSIN especially welcomes contributions from practitioners and new researchers in the field of styles.

    Proposals can be submitted for contributions in the following formats:

    ·         Paper presentation

    ·         Symposium

    ·         'Talk and tell' poster-sessions

    ·         Good practice
