    I am contacting you in regards to a research project being conducted at the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST), a research lab at the University of Central Florida.  This research is being conducted by Chris Coultas and Debbie DiazGranados under the direction of Drs. Shawn Burke and Eduardo Salas.  The project is testing a series of propositions that have been put forth regarding leadership functions within teams and the source of leadership which might be best positioned to engage in such activities.  In an effort to explore this question we have developed a brief online survey (approximately 30 minutes).  We would be very grateful for your permission to send out the letter below to members of the listserv, which includes a link that will allow them to take the online survey at their convenience.

    You are being contacted on behalf of the Teams, Training, and Technology (T3) lab at the Institute for Simulation and Training (IST), University of Central Florida.  We're conducting a brief study regarding peoples' perceptions of how leadership works in various types of teams.  Your participation, while greatly appreciated, is completely voluntary and non-compensatory.  We can offer you the results of our study when they are completed if you are interested.  If you would like to participate in this study, please follow the link below to complete the online survey.  The entire survey should not take longer than 30 minutes.

    I participated in your survey underneath. I am very interested in the results of your study. I am investigating collective learning behaviors (team learning behaviors) and how (especially team leaders) to promote or obstruct these behaviors in teams.
