Dear MED Division colleagues,

I am delighted to invite you to THE PDW at the 2011 Academy of Management Conference in San Antonio.  When I say "THE PDW" I mean "Texas Highlight Event  of Professors Drinking Wine".  This PDW is a special off-site event designed to help build the MED Division community and to offer me a chance to show off Texas.  For those of you who do not know me I am the one who always has a Texas Pin on my Academy name badge.

The idea for this PDW developed last year at the MED social where I was bragging about Texas (something I have been known to do from time to time).  Someone said if Texas is so great then prove it.  I said I would and the Texas Wine Country Tour was born. 

THE PDW will take participants on a five hour tour out of San Antonio to the edge of the Texas Hill Country where a number of wineries operate and have made Texas the second fastest growing wine producing area in the country.

 We will depart from the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center at 1:30 on Friday, August 12 and return by about 6:30.The tour will take us to three wineries where we will sample the "fruits" of their labors (pun intended) and learn about the wine making process while we are at it. We plan to travel on two large (air conditioned) busses that will carry up to 32 people each. 

The MED Division and I hope that as many of those seats will be occupied by MED members but note that registration is open to all AOM Members, which brings me to the purpose of this message.  The Academy Meeting Program site will be opening soon and this will provide the opportunity for you to register for Texas Winery Tour (submission number 13914).  I hope that MED members will take advantage of this advance notice and register for this PDW as soon as the system is ready. 

Pre registration is required and requires the nominal fee of $40 per person.  The fee includes transportation through the beauty of Texas and wine tasting at all three wineries.  Wines and other gift items are available for purchase at each location. 

Register early to assure a large MED turnout.  Tell your MED friends and colleagues because once word gets out the remaining seats will go fast!
