    Dear colleagues,

We invite you to the Professional Development Workshop (PDW) on teaching MBA
in China, labelled as "The Process is the Bridge", Friday the 12th,
08:30-12:30, Salon A, Marriott River Center.

The workshop will address the creation of an MBA course design with an
emphasis on the course delivery process, as that is where indigenization (=
relevance fit with the Chinese context; Tsui, 2006) occurs. Focus will be on
three aspects: (1) pre-course casework collaboration and the introduction of
MBA teaching by electronic means, (2) the in-course feedback and evaluation,
and (3) the post-course learning consolidation and course conclusion.
The workshop will use Google Wave as technology platform to illustrate &
practice with the PDW participants how to design and implement the course
delivery process aspects. These insights have been developed gradually since
2003, when the joint part-time MBA program between Fudan University’s School
of Management and the Norwegian School of Business was initiated. What we
put out for dialogue in the PDW, is what we learned. And we take it from
    there.
Our main aim is to engage PDW participants in developing course designs that
ensure group processes of exchange, participation, and reciprocal learning,
and visualize & feedback of the outcomes along the progress of the course.
The PDW will mimic a prototypical course design, i.e., is staged into a
    pre-PDW, during-PDW, and post-PDW.

The PDW is relevant for all who (1) teach MBA and Executive MBA courses in
China itself, (2) have a large component of Chinese participants in their
non-PRC located classrooms, and (3) want to develop technology-based,
collaborative course designs for Asian and SE-Asian courses (i.e., beyond
    China).
Please note that this is NOT a PDW for techie instructors or ones interested
in online MBA programs. Equally relevant to note is that it is based on
sharing experiences, designs, and information: there are no wrong or right
answers, just ones that work now and here. Pragmatism is the criterion,
    theory comes later.

This PDW limits its participants to 50, requires the use of your own laptop,
and pre-registration (email to hanno.roberts@bi.no for the code).

Looking forward to work with you!

    Hanno, Jan Ketil, and Ted
