    Dear MEDrs,

As we are packed to leave en route Hot Texas, it is not too early to start thinking about next year's meeting (trust me!), which will take place in Boston, Aug. 3-7, 2012. The theme is going to be The Informal Economy. I am inviting ideas and suggestions for the MED Annual off-site PDW. I am especially keen to hear from local members who will be able to arrange a site visit during the PDW program.

As you know, we are holding a terrific off-site event this year, a Texas Winery tour on Friday afternoon, all thanks to the initiative of our Texan member from Tarleton State U, Thomas Bradley. We have well over 50 people registered and as far as I figured out we are fully booked. The idea for this unique off-site PDW came about when Thomas and I were talking during last year's Academy MED social. I liked Thomas' idea and we made it a reality during the next months. I think it will be great to replicate this next year and I am looking for people with ideas. It can be just about anything that would be fun and interesting for our members and will not be too logistically complicated. Maybe some kind of Tea Party? If you want to talk about an idea with me for next year's off-site PDW, please email me directly or, even better, come see me during one of the MED socials in San Antonio.

    Warm wishes,

    Jacob
