Dr. Wankel,

Best wishes,
Carolyn
Emmanuel College, a Catholic, coeducational, residential liberal arts college in Boston, seeks a seasoned teacher-scholar and visionary academic leader to continue the growth and development of the department of Management and Economics. This vibrant and fast-growing department offers degrees in Management and Accounting and a range of interdisciplinary minors and concentrations. Majors benefit from a welcoming College environment rooted in the liberal arts and imbued with a mission to promote social justice and ethical principles.
The College's senior leadership is stable, distinguished, and committed to the growth and sustainable success of the department, which is central to the College-wide strategic plan. Sister Janet Eisner, SND, President of the College since 1979, has led the institution through a time of exceptional innovation, achievement, and growth. In 2011, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Joyce DeLeo came to Emmanuel from Dartmouth College, where she served as Professor and Chair of the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. The department currently includes nine full-time faculty members and is poised for expansion in the near term.
The Chair will be an effective spokesperson and champion for the department both internally and externally. In addition to teaching and ongoing administrative responsibilities, s/he will foster relationships with area companies and potential partners to develop research and internship initiatives; mentor and advise faculty; manage faculty courseload; and oversee department grantwriting and external funding solicitation.
The ideal candidate will have a terminal degree in business, management or a related field; a minimum of five years of teaching experience at the Associate or Full Professor level; excellent interpersonal and influencing skills and a warm, collegial style. In addition, s/he will possess significant experience in course and program design, a commitment to diversity, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a record of successful and productive engagement with faculty, students, and the professional community. Experience leading multidisciplinary programs and building business-oriented programs within a liberal arts environment is a plus.
Emmanuel College is being assisted by Associate Vice President Allison Kupfer and Managing Associate Carolyn Ho of the Nonprofit Professionals Advisory Group. Applications will be reviewed until a hire is made, but those received before March 1 have the best chance for full consideration.
