Please join us of a workshop to discuss, exchange, and learn about strengths and challenges of various models to teach innovation.
Major forces such as technology and globalization have increased the volatility and velocity of change in many industries, turning the ability to innovate critical for firm survival. As a consequence, many executives consider the ability to innovate as one of their top three priorities. This imperative translates directly in a call for higher education to provide offerings in this area, and indeed Universities have increasingly been offering new courses focused on the innovation process and more novices will be learning how to innovate. While there has been much experimentation, there are few dominant models of how best to teach the innovation process. This PDW will bring together faculty engaged in designing and delivering courses on the innovation process with the intent to assist faculty in confronting challenges and pursuing opportunities in this area. Experienced faculty who have experimented with different approaches to teaching the innovation process will share their experiences. Following the presentations, we will break out in groups to discuss how to teach innovating along three themes: 1) Learning Approach 2) Learning Context, and 3) Learning Engagement.
