2017 IT/ME Scholarly Program: Call for Submissions
While our individual scholarship and teaching assignments may align closely with particular research domains, we are united in our efforts to deliver educational material in ways that resonate with, inspire, and encourage students. Many are constantly pushing the boundaries of management education, continuously searching for novel instruction methods that present material in a new way, enhance critical thinking skills, engage students with their communities, and more. Accordingly, the Innovative Teaching/Management Education track welcomes submissions in the form of papers, symposia, professional development sessions, and panel discussions from all divisions of the management domain. We welcome any topic that aims to challenge current assumptions, inspire discussion/debate, and/or introduce new methods for management education. Submissions focusing on management education at all levels (e.g., undergraduate, masters, doctoral), in different formats (e.g., seated, online, blended), and using different methods (e.g., empirical, conceptual) are encouraged.
Examples of questions you might address include:
• Novel instructional methods and their impact on learning-related outcomes
• Current practices/trends in Colleges/Schools of Business
• Online teaching (e.g., best practices, challenges, comparison to seated courses)
• Teaching-related practices for specific management disciplines (e.g., Strategy, OB/HR, Entrepreneurship, Ethics)
• Trends/challenges of academic life
• Learning processes
• Management research and teaching interface
• Trends in student populations
• Experiential learning opportunities
• Service learning
• Assessment in the classroom
The above list should not be considered exhaustive. Rather, these are a small sample of appropriate topics for our track.
The deadline for submissions is Monday, April 24, 2017, at 11:59pm, CST. All submissions should follow the SMA general submission guidelines and be submitted using the SMA conference website.
If you submit a paper, we strongly encourage you to also sign up to review. We are indebted to our colleagues who volunteer to review regardless of whether they plan to submit to our track. However, increasing our number of reviewers creates the possibility of decreasing the number of submissions each reviewer is asked to consider. Additionally, reviewing affords us all the opportunity to consider current trends, research, and insights about management education, a domain important to us all. Finally, we want your help in creating a superior quality program! You can volunteer to review from the SMA conference website. You may be asked to review up to three submissions and we will do our best to assign you submissions that align with your chosen keywords. We thank you in advance for your service.
This year's IT/ME Awards are:
1. Best Track Paper
2. Best Doctoral Student Paper
