UNIVERSITY OF VICTORIA - Assistant / Associate Professor - Strategy. The
Faculty of Business is seeking to fill a tenure track position at the
Assistant/Associate Professor level in the area of Strategy. Applicants
should hold or have nearly completed a PhD in Strategy with a proven
record of accomplishment in research and teaching. Candidates with a
special interest in one of the Faculty's three areas of specialization
(entrepreneurship, hospitality and services management and international
business) or international finance are particularly encouraged to apply.
Salary is commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and
experience.
The Faculty of Business places an equal priority on teaching and
research. Based on publications in the top 32 journals over the last 5
years, the Faculty placed 10th overall in Canada and first in terms of
output per faculty member. The Faculty has received four awards for its
pedagogy. First, its Entrepreneurship Program received the Academy of
Management's Innovation in Entrepreneurship Pedagogy Award, in a
competition that included Harvard and 17 other universities
internationally. Shortly thereafter the program received the Year 2000
National Model Undergraduate Program in Entrepreneurship Award from the
U.S. Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE). This
program is the first from outside the U.S. to be recognized by USASBE,
whose membership includes entrepreneurship educators from around the
world.
The Faculty of Business takes pride in giving its students "the
international experience" for which it has received both the Scotiabank
Award for Excellence in Internationalization from the Association of
Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and the Award for Outstanding
International Programming from the Canadian Bureau of International
Education (CBIE). The Faculty is renowned for its international focus,
including extensive exchange programs and overseas co-op work
opportunities for students.
Victoria has a population of approximately 326,000. Situated on the
southern tip of Vancouver Island, the city boasts a gentle climate and
scenic setting, with outdoor recreation as a year-round pastime.
Victoria is a popular tourist destination in the Pacific Northwest and
has established major ties with Pacific Rim countries.
