One tenure-track faculty position at the level of instructor, assistant
or associate professor is being offered by the Department of Management
Studies beginning August 25, 2003. Faculty have responsibilities in
teaching, research and service. Individual appointed will teach
undergraduate entrepreneurship courses, one or two electives in the
management areas of strategy, marketing, or human resources, and
possibly a graduate entrepreneurship course. Currently, the typical
teaching load is about five sections (15 credits) per academic year,
with three to four preparations per year. Applicants must exhibit
skills and enthusiasm consistent with teaching excellence,
instructional innovation. Must be interested in using technology in
instruction. Faculty are responsible for advisement of undergraduate
students and working with student organizations; faculty are expected
to engage in service activities with colleagues, the department,
school, campus, community and professional organizations. The
candidate for this position will have an "outreach" commitment in the
promotion and development of entrepreneurship by using and in
collaboration with university resources (e.g., Center for Economic
Development, technology incubator, Bureau of Business and Economic
Research, entrepreneurship endowment). Dependent upon the nature of
the outreach activities undertaken, there is a possibility of teaching
release.
Approximately 1500 undergraduate and 40 graduate students are currently
enrolled in the School's programs. Both the undergraduate and graduate
programs are AACSB International accredited. There are over 30
full-time faculty in four academic departments: Accounting, Economics,
Finance and Management Information Sciences, and Management Studies
(which includes marketing, human resource and management). The School
offers the Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration,
and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through
activities of the School's Center for Economic Development. Additional

QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential: A record of scholarship is essential, as is demonstrated
commitment to a research agenda and publication in the primary
discipline. The creation of knowledge in the area of entrepreneurship
resulting in its dissemination through the publication of refereed
articles in recognized journals, the presentation of papers, other
acceptable channels, and through one's teaching area is required.
Applicants must be ABD (with a clear plan for completion by September
1, 2004, of a business Ph.D. or D.B.A. degree) with curricular emphasis
in entrepreneurship from an AACSB International-accredited school, or a
major state, provincial, or nation-state university. If Ph.D./D.B.A.
is two or more years old, there must be one refereed journal
publication in the area of entrepreneurship for each year post terminal
degree. If ABD or Ph.D./D.B.A. for less than two years, there must be
evidence of a submission of a manuscript to a refereed journal in the
area of entrepreneurship. Applicants must also have taught a minimum of
one entrepreneurship course exhibiting skills and enthusiasm consistent
with teaching excellence, instructional innovation, and the use of
technology in instruction. Must demonstrate evidence of communication
skills appropriate to a faculty position. Applicants must exhibit a
willingness to fulfill service responsibilities/expectations to
colleagues, the department, school, campus, community, and professional
organizations. Willingness and capability to advise and work with
students and student organizations are essential as is a demonstrated
willingness to work with economic development agencies in the area of
entrepreneurship.
Preferred:
Business Ph.D. or D.B.A. with curricular emphasis in entrepreneurship
from an AACSB International-accredited school, or a major state,
provincial, or nation-state university and a documented research record
of published, refereed articles in journals in the area of
entrepreneurship. Business and management experience in industry and/or
economic development agencies in the area of entrepreneurship is
desirable.
RANK:
Instructor: candidate who is ABD with a clear plan for completion of a
business PhD/DBA by September 1, 2004 and other essential requirements
as listed above. Assistant Professor: candidate who has a business
Ph.D. or D.B.A. with a curricular emphasis in entrepreneurship and
teaching and research record. ABD or Ph.D./D.B.A. for less than two
years: evidence of a submission of a manuscript to a refereed journal
in the area of entrepreneurship. Associate Professor: candidate who
has a business Ph.D. or D.B.A. with a curricular emphasis in
entrepreneurship and teaching and research record . Ph.D./D.B.A. is
two or more years old: one refereed journal publication in the area of
entrepreneurship for each year post terminal degree.
The Committee will begin its review of completed applications on
September 16, 2002, and will continue until the position is filled.
