Faculty Positions - Management and Human Resources Department
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona is a comprehensive
university that serves the needs of a dynamic multicultural region
and student body. The Management and Human Resources Department is
seeking to hire well-qualified candidates who will contribute to the
enrichment of the College, Department, and University. The Department
has 17 full-time faculty, 615 majors and serves approximately 4100
students in the College of Business Administration. The College of
Business Administration is accredited at both the undergraduate and
graduate levels by AACSB International-The Association to Advance
Collegiate Schools of Business.
The Positions:
The Management and Human Resources Department in the College of
Business Administration, California State Polytechnic University,
Pomona invites applications for three tenure track faculty
positions: OB/Management, Human Resources, and Business/Managerial
Communication. The OB/Management applicant should have an individual
and group behavior emphasis. The HR applicant must have an emphasis
in at least one of the functional areas such as selection, labor
relations, employment law, compensation or benefits. Rank and salary
are dependent on qualifications. The appointments will begin Fall
2003.
Qualifications:
Ph.D./D.B.A. required in Business, Industrial Relations,
Communication, or appropriate related field. Candidates in
dissertation stage may be considered if anticipated award of
doctorate is prior to appointment date. At least one advanced degree
must be in business/ management. Preference will be given to
candidates with evidence or potential for excellence in working with
multicultural constituencies and a diverse student body.
Candidates are required to have demonstrated teaching excellence at
undergraduate and/or graduate levels. Evidence of professional
development in the form of basic and applied scholarship and/or
instructional development in the job position area is required.
Involvement with professional associations, clients or community
groups is strongly preferred. Teaching and research experience in
e-business applications in the area of management, human resources or
business communication is preferred. Evidence of some grant writing
is preferred.
The University:
California State Polytechnic University, Pomona (Cal Poly Pomona) is
one of 23 campuses in The California State University. It is located
about 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and is part of one of the
most dynamic economic and cultural regions in the country. Noted for
its beautiful and historic 1,400-acre campus, once the Arabian horse
ranch of cereal magnate W. K. Kellogg, the university currently has
an ethnically diverse student population of 18,000. Students are
enrolled in 62 undergraduate majors and 19 master's degree programs.
There are approximately 1,100 faculty members. The University is
