    > Employee Responsibilities and Rights Journal invites submissions for a
special issue that will examine means of protecting employees from
unjust or arbitrary dismissal and/or ensuring that employers have the
freedom to staff and manage their organizations without unwelcome
oversight. The practicality and problems surrounding conflicting
doctrines, such as employment-at-will versus wrongful discharge actions
in the United States, are being questioned in light of the evolving
nature of both our society and the employment relationship itself. Some
courts, tribunals and societies are readily embracing doctrines and
theories that favor the rights of employers to discharge employees as
they see fit while others have taken a stance that favors protecting
employees against what are perceived to be inappropriate employer
    behaviors.
    >
    > We invite conceptual, theoretical and empirical manuscripts that
explore laws, theories and/or doctrines related to this tension in
various societal and national contexts. Articles may be framed in legal,
political, economic, sociological, philosophical or historical
perspectives. Multi or cross disciplinary submissions are particularly
encouraged as are submissions that compare and/or contrast approaches
used in different countries or societies. All submissions will be
double-blind reviewed. Possible areas that may be addressed include,
but are not limited to, the following:
    >
    > ! Analyses of a particular approach/doctrine (with evidence or
arguments supporting superiority / inferiority to other approaches)
    > ! Interpretations of a particular approach/doctrine (looking at
the consistencies and/or inconsistencies of judicial decisions and their
    implications)
    > ! Discussions of the pros and cons / costs and benefits of a
    particular approach/doctrine
    > ! Examinations of the nature of the employee-employer relationship
in other countries, societies or cultures
    > ! Positions in favor of strengthening or weakening employee or
employer right or responsibilities relative to unjust dismissal
    allegations
    >
    > Submissions can be framed from the employee, employer or societal
perspectives or incorporate multiple perspectives. While submissions
may be based in different disciplines and employ different perspectives,
all must present some position concerning the viability of a particular
approach in the 21st Century / post-industrial society.
    >
    > Deadlines and submission instructions: The ABSOLUTE deadline for
