In January 2002, the Critical Management Studies Interest Group and the the Management Education Division announced a case-writing competition for "the best case-study of the worst business practices" (see Announcement at http://aom.pace.edu/cms/). The goal was to encourage the development of teaching cases that documented the worst practices of business so that students have the opportunity to examine how such practices come in being, how they function, and how they might be changed. We received a gratifying number of submissions, which we are delighted to post on the CMS website (http://aom.pace.edu/cms/ ):

This case is intended for undergraduate and graduate courses in Strategy, Strategic Human Resource Management, Retail Management, Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations. Paul describes its teaching objectives as:* To examine the low cost competitive strategies and their consequences.
    * To explore the strategic repercussions of highly negative news coverage.
    * To investigate the "corporate campaign" as a contemporary union organizing strategy and its consequences for HR system design. The case achieves these objectives admirably. Paul also has available an Epliogue, and Appendix, and a Teaching Note.  On behalf of us all, I would thank all those who submitted their material. It's great stuff!Paul<x-sigsep>
