Charlie,
There is a chapter on management training in Vietnam, in a book that Bob
Golembiewski, Afzal Rahim and I edited a few years ago, that describes an
innovative "wall boarding exercise" used with Vietnamese managers. What is
especially nice about this chapter for your purposes is that it contains a
list of 21 steps for running the exercise, along with experience-based
suggestions and recommendations for working with Vietnamese managers.
See: L. E. Dennis & L. K. Stroh (1997). Moving from a command economy to a
market economy in Vietnam: A training experience. In A. Rahim, R.
Golembiewski, & L. Pate (Eds.), Current Issues in Management (Vol. 2).

Also, here's a quote from the final chapter of the book that may interest
you:
"Who would have envisioned back in 1967, at the height of the Vietnam War,
that anyone even remotely associated with the U.S. military would ever be
invited back to Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) to design and run innovative
training programs for Vietnamese managers?"
See: Pate, L. E., Golembiewski, R. T., & Rahim, M. A. (1997). Managing
change versus achieving progress: Images of an ethical future. In A.
Rahim, R. Golembiewski, & L. Pate (Eds.), Current Issues in Management (Vol.
2). Greenwich, CT: JAI Press.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Larry

Subject: Do you know of brief cases and exercises
I will be teaching management in Vietnam and would appreciate suggestions
for brief cases and exercises that you recommend using. One of the topics
will be quality management. One of the groups will senior executives.
Best regards,
