  • 1.  Texts for teaching org.comm theory

    From: Eileen Day ewordscapes@bigpond.com

A sunny hello to everyone from Melbourne, Australia

I'm interested in discovering what text books/required reading material are
being used by others who teach in the area of organisational communication
theory and research (at postgrad level).

I do some contract teaching on this topic as a part of a very versatile and
broad-ranging professional communication masters coursework program offered
by RMIT University .... which incidentally is an excellent program :))).

For many of our students tho, this course is their first real exposure to
org. theory so we introduce them to both past and contemporary mgmt and OB
theoretical frameworks and explore them from an org.communication
    perspective. Exciting stuff!

Anyway, I'm interested in the texts that other people around the world might
be using in teaching a similar type of subject at this level. This year, our
set text was Katherine Miller's 3rd ed of 'Org.Communication Approaches and
Processes' (2003) but I'm now on the lookout for other alternatives.

So, if you're involved in a similar subject, email me (offlist) the details
of your favourite textbook etc (and why). I'd also be interested in seeing a
copy of your course syllabus too, if that's possible. And, if anyone else is
interested, I'll collate responses and repost it back to the list.

    Thanks . Eileen
