    Dear Colleagues:
    We are in the process of developing a new class on social and ethical
    issues for students in our MBA program. One part of this class will
    consist of a series of substantive topics to be discussed. The
    second, and complementary, part of the class will be a set of
    approaches, "tools," and exercises intended to improve students'
    skills in open-minded inquiry, understanding and analysis, and
    skilled action - especially regarding situations that may challenge
    their personal or professional integrity in one way or another. We
    are seeking suggestions about this second part of the class.

    Specifically, are you familiar with any approaches and tools that you
    would recommend for helping students in the areas of open-minded
    inquiry, understanding and analysis, and skilled action? We are
    interested in both source materials (books, articles, videos, etc.)
    and materials that will help us use these approaches effectively in
    the classroom, such as instructional manuals and videos.

    Some approaches we have identified so far are as follows:

    A. Open-Minded Inquiry
    * Deep Listening
    * Strategic Questioning
    * Recognizing Resistance
    * Socratic Dialog
    * The Six Hats approach (De Bono)
    * Journaling experience
    * Artistic Expression

    B. Understanding and Analysis
    * Stakeholder Analysis
    * Scenario Analysis
    * Values Analysis

    C. Skilled Action
    * Warriorship (Taoist/Samurai traditions)
    * Understanding Intellectual and Emotional Logics
    * Coping with Resistance
    * Advocacy, Argumentation and Debate
    * Mediation

    We would be most grateful for any suggestions you may have about
    sources on these topics such as readings, videos, or instructional
    manuals.

    Thank you very much!

    What about the book:

    The Ethical Process, An Approach to Disagreements and Controversial Issues,
    third edition, Marvin T Brown, Prentice Hall, 2003?

    (to make lights on our assumptions, etc).
