    Dear Colleagues

I have pleasure in drawing your attention to the Second Conference on
Accounting and Finance in Transition which will take place in Kavala
(Northern Greece) from 9th to 11th July this year. Following the success of
the First Greenwich International West-East Conference "Accounting and
Finance in Transition: European and Asian Experience and Public Policy
Consideration" held at the Old Royal Naval College (now home to the
University of Greenwich) in July 2003, the University of Greenwich Business
School and its partner institution Technical Educational Institution (TEI)
Kavala are organising the Second Conference.

All accepted conference papers will be published in the conference
proceedings, while the selected papers will be published in the second
volume of the series Accounting and Finance in Transition published by the
Greenwich University Press, and in a special symposia issue of Managerial
Finance, Economics of Planning and The European Journal of Management and
Public Policy. The organisers have contacted a few other journals and
pending the number of excellent papers, it is possible that some other
learned journals will accept to publish a special issue with papers
presented at the Kavala conference (especially in the field of public
sector accounting and finance). All papers accepted for publication will be
subjected to the separate (and additional) refereeing process.

I would be most grateful if you could draw the attention of your staff and
colleagues to this event. The local organisers have negotiated a very good
package with a number of local hotels in the peak-season, and have prepared
a very good social programme. The timing of the conference is such that it
follows the annual meeting of EFA, which will take place in Istanbul a few
days before the Kavala conference. If there is enough interest the local
organising committee is ready to provide transportation from Istanbul to
    Kavala and back.

For more information and on-line registration, please visit

    http://www.teikav.edu.gr/icaft2004

and please note that the deadline for submission of papers is 15th March.

If you need further information, please do not hesitate to contact the
    local organisers, or alternatively myself.

I hope to see you in Kavala this year and/or in Greenwich in July next
year. Our intention is to have the conference organised in Greenwich
bi-annually, while in the between years the conference will be hosted in a
different country by one of our partner institutions. We hope that the
conference in 2006 will be hosted in Australia.

With my sincere apologies for cross-posting, I remain

    Yours faithfully

    Z. Sevic
