    Dear subject matter expert:

I am teaching a graduate seminar on leadership this term, and my
students and I are trying to find out how a variety of key leadership
dimensions are conceptually related to one another. In order to do
this, we need the expertise of people who know something about
management and leadership, and the MG-ED-DV list-serve seems an ideal
    source for such experts.

Specifically, we would like you to judge the relevance of each of a
number of distinct leadership and managerial competencies in describing
a single type of leadership as defined in the literature (we provide the
definition). We have identified 27 leadership dimensions and you will
be asked to make judgments with respect to only one of those dimensions
(randomly assigned). We will also ask you to describe your background
(e.g., age, sex, education, primary work setting) so that we can
properly describe our pool of experts. You can expect to take about 15
    minutes to complete the ratings.

Once we have sufficient numbers of judges per version of the task (were
aiming for 10 per version), we will be able to identify overlaps and
distinctions among dimensions in terms of a common set of competencies.
To our knowledge, no one has taken this particular content mapping
approach before and we are eager to see what comes of it.

If you accept our invitation, simply click on the link below and you
will be connected to one of the 27 versions of the task we have
prepared. Your participation, of course, is voluntary and nothing bad
will happen to you if you choose not to participate. If you do decide
to participate, we would be happy to send you a summary of what we find,
probably toward the end of May.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about our study, I may
    be reached at robert-tett@utulsa.edu. Thanks.

Hi Robert, my research area is cross-cultural
leadership and management. Taking a very quick glance
at your survey (I'm between classes for a moment), it
looks more like a study of supervision practices, and
seems related to the Ohio State LBDQ XII instrument.
Can you give us a brief description and perhaps a
reference or two on your theory?

    More later.

    Regards,
    Romie
