Dear colleagues,
Ever wondered how to go about creating a short-term study abroad program
for your MBA students that would earn them class credit?
Have you felt daunted by the multiple tasks associated with establishing
short-term study abroad courses for MBA students --integrating study
abroad into the MBA curriculum, choosing country and industry focuses,
designing pre- or post-travel classroom work, offering cross-cultural
training, evaluating the program and assessing its impact on students?
Not to mention finding the most effective means to manage the
administrative details that range from seemingly simple tasks (such
arranging overseas transportation) to the complex (managing health,
safety and immigration issues for all students registered for the course).
You are invited to attend a specialized workshop on May 21-23, 2004
designed to share with participants a range of best practices, cutting
edge strategies, course formats and materials from a variety of MBA
short term study abroad programs from across the country. You will be
introduced to both mandatory and optional study abroad programs, and
explore different organizational and pedagogical approaches. Presenters
will be drawn from the cosponsoring CIBER schools (see below for list).
By end of the weekend, participants will be significantly farther down
the road towards offering their first MBA short-term study abroad
courses, built on the good and bad experiences of well-established programs.
The registration fee for this workshop is $1,075 if received by April
31, 2004, and $1,250 thereafter. This fee includes two nights stay at
the Millennium Hotel in Durham, NC, transportation between the hotel and
the Duke University Fuqua School of Business, meals, and program materials.
