Thank you so much to those college and university faculty members
(professors, graduate teaching assistants, instructors, lecturers) who
had a chance to participate in my dissertation study. I thought I would
make one last appeal as I would like to increase the response rate from
faculty-of-color. It is important that the sample be diverse and I want
my study to include the perspective of faculty of color. Here is the
    information ...

    Who...
I am a doctoral candidate at the University of Colorado at Denver and my
name is Mary Chavez Rudolph. I am conducting a dissertation study
called, "Student Incivility in the College Classroom from a Faculty
Perspective: Race and Gender Differences in Perception, Attribution,
    Effect, and Response".

    What...
Educators claim there is a relationship between increasing incivility in
the college classroom and increasing diversity of faculty and students
in higher education. My study is an attempt to investigate majority and
minority college instructors' perceptions, attributions, effects, and
    response to student incivility.

    How and When...
To participate in the study please go to

    http://www.jpdenver.com/mcr-1/main.html

to complete an on-line survey (some browsers are a bit finicky so if
this link fails please copy and paste the address directly into your
browser and you should be successful in accessing my web-based survey).
Your responses are confidential due to the anonymous nature of the
survey. I estimate it will take approximately 20 minutes of your time.
Please assist me in my research by completing the survey before May 7,
    2004.

    Why...
The possible benefit to you, as a participant, is the opportunity to
reflect upon your own pedagogy related to student incivility in the
classroom. If you would like to receive the study results when they are
available please send me an e-mail and provide your e-mail address.
Also, since you have probably been in my situation, appealing to
potential respondents to participate in your research, I am hoping you
will empathize with my circumstances and offer your assistance!

    Thank you for your consideration,

    Mary Chavez Rudolph
