We have been delayed in getting the July/August issue online, and probably won't have it online until early August. We do have the articles for the issue ready for publication. They are as follows:

The Future of Learning Technologies: An Interview with Chris Dede
James L. Morrison, UNC-Chapel Hill and Chris Dede, Harvard University

Video Game Studies and the Emerging Instructional Revolution
    Joel Foreman, George Mason University

Rethinking Space and Time: The Role of Internet Technology in a Large Lecture Course
Diane Harley, Jonathan Henke, UC-Berkeley, and Michael Maher, UC-Davis

Effective Technology Integration in Teacher Education: A Comparative Study of Six Programs
Gil Valdez, Kathleen Fulton, Robert Blomeyer, Jr., Allen Glenn, and Nicole Wendel
    North Central Regional Educational Laboratory

    Experiencing Knowledge
Donald Norris, Strategic Initiatives, Jon Mason, Education.au Limited, and Paul Lefrere, Microsoft

Scaling Up: From Web-Enhanced Courses to a Web-Enhanced Curriculum
    Robert Wood, Rutgers University, Camden

Publishing for the Individual, Not the Enterprise
    Jonathan Maybaum, University of Michigan

We hope to have Innovate available in multiple languages. We are conducting discussions with university representatives in China, Japan, Dubai, and Italy now and hope to have discussions with representatives in France, Russia, Denmark, and Estonia within the next several weeks. We will also continue to have the features that we developed for The Technology Source (http://ts.mivu.org): a discussion forum for each article, an Innovate-Live webcast with the authors of each article, a "read related" function whereby with a click of the mouse you can see the titles of articles in hypertext that we have published that are related to the article you are reading, an "easy print" function, and an "email this article function."

We are attempting to secure foundation and corporate support to cover the cost of publication so that we will not have to charge a subscription fee. In the event that we don't secure this funding, our fees will be small, with the aspiration that a large subscription base will provide sufficient funding to meet our costs. If you know of a foundation or corporation that would see it in their interest to support Innovate, please send me a note.

I have just returned from the DIVERSE 2004 conference in Amsterdam, which focused on the use of video and video conferencing in education. During the after-conference sail on the Markermeer Sea, Michael O'Donoghue, Lancaster University, conducted video interviews with several of the presenters on how they use video in creative ways to enhance teaching and learning in a classroom and in online education. In essence these interviews form an overview of articles for a special issue on this subject. We will demonstrate an alternative approach to our contents page whereby readers will be able to view the interview with a click of the mouse instead of reading an abstract of their articles. Each article will take advantage of our supplementary files feature to include multimedia and text examples that illuminates the text so that readers will get a real look and feel for what the authors describe.

We are excited about publishing an online journal that uses information technology tools to enhance professional communication about how to use IT tools more effectively in education. If you would like to submit an article for publication consideration in a regular issue, please review our submission guidelines at http://fgse.nova.edu/innovate before sending it to me.

    Many thanks.
