Now that the Academy of Management Meeting deadline has passed, it's time to
start thinking about the 2005 Southern Management Association Conference to
be held November 9-12, in Charleston, S.C. at the Francis Marion Hotel.
With the meeting's location in charming Charleston, we expect high
attendance and high-quality papers. For additional information on hotel
accommodations, the hotel's website is

722-0600. Be sure to ask for the "SMA" rate.
As Chair of Track 5: Management History/Management Education/International
Management (MH/MED/IM), I am writing to encourage you to:
- Submit papers
- Review papers
- Volunteer to be a discussant and/or session chair
Submitting papers. If you haven't yet received the SMA 2005 Call for
Papers, it is available at
www.southernmanagement.org. Please note that the
deadline for submitting papers is April 14, 2005
Reviewing papers. At this point, I am seeking confirmation from individuals
who would be willing to review papers (maximum of two or three per reviewer)
for the MH/MED/IM Track. The timeframe for reviewing will be between the
paper submission deadline (noted above) and May 16, 2005 (the deadline for
returning reviews).
Volunteering for discussant and/or session chair. Traditionally,
individuals chosen to be discussants and session chairs come from the
reviewer pool. If you are interested in being considered for one of these
positions, please also consider being a reviewer.
I have included a form below for you to express your interest in reviewing
papers, discussing papers, and/or being a session chair. I ask that if you
would like to participate in the MH/MED/IM Track, that you please email the
form to me by March 1, 2005 at
flohrke@cba.ua.edu. If you have colleagues
that are interested in participating in the Track, please pass along the
form to them, too. When you return the form, please list your research
interest areas. I will try to match papers to your interests.
