    2005 OBTS New Educator Award

The purpose of the OBTS New Educator Award is to recognize a person who has
shown early promise to make a difference in the field of management
education. They are the new voices who promise to bring new ways of
thinking about and practicing management education.

    Criteria for Selection:
To be eligible, nominees are to be at an early stage of their teaching
careers. Specifically, individuals are only eligible up to 5 years after
    receiving their Ph.D. degree.

The award recipient should be an exceptional in-class instructor and
innovator who has shown cutting-edge promise, creativity, and/or insight
through conference presentations or publishing on some aspect of
pedagogy. The candidate should evidence recognition by others of teaching
    excellence.

Active involvement in the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society as
evidenced by participation as a presenter at one or more conferences, as an
author in the Journal of Management Education, or as a volunteer on a
    committee.

    Requirements:
Official nomination of individual by oneself or others. Initial
application is to document commitment and contributions to teaching and
    learning. Materials should include:
    - a personal statement of teaching philosophy (2-5 pages),
    - an up-to-date CV,
    - several course syllabi that reflect teaching philosophy in action,
    - sample feedback materials (peer reviews, student evaluations, or
other documentation) on teaching commitment and effectiveness.
    - A writing sample, such as an article or chapter on aspects of
pedagogy, is desirable but optional, as is involvement in other
professional or service activities that focus on teaching.

Reviewers for the OBTS New Educator Award seek to receive from the nominee
a focused, succinct presentation of self-as-educator. We do not seek
volumes of material; rather, the file should speak to the candidate's
merits and teaching strengths in a focused manner.

Finalists may be requested to submit a more complete teaching portfolio as
    needed.

    Deadlines:
Nominations must be made by February 25, 2005.

Four copies of the nominee's application package must be received in hard
    copy by March 30, 2005.
