    Developing Crisis Leadership Capabilities
    Tuesday, September 20, 2005
    8:00 - 10:00am
Marriott Hotel, Tyson's Corner in Vienna, VA
Corporate Crises come in many shapes and sizes. Quarterly issues such as a
loss of a key client or resignation of a top executive are relatively tame
compared to huge enterprise wide scandals or product recalls that have the
potential to end an organization. As the pace of our global, 24 x 7 business
environment accelerates, so does the frequency with which we experience such
    organizational crises.
Developing top management so that they can successfully navigate through
these types of situations- as challenging as that is- is only half the
battle. Although leaders can often manage through such crises to bring them
to resolution, we often see the same issues recur time and again. A better
approach to merely "managing" crises is one that involves taking a
leadership point of view and asking- and answering-such questions as, "Why
is our firm susceptible to particular challenges? How can our leaders
develop the courage to make difficult decisions and take appropriate action
on those decisions? What can we learn from the crises? Can we proactively
build in management capabilities to limit the frequency and impact of
    crises?"
