• 1. MED PDW program, etc.

    Hi Everyone.

I am pleased to announce that MED will have another great slate of PDW sessions at the upcoming Academy of Management meeting in Atlanta. Thanks to co-sponsorships, MED has leveraged the 30 hours allocated to it by the Academy of Management into over 80 hours of program time. The nearly 40 sessions with which MED is affiliated can be roughly grouped into six main themes, as indicated in the table below. Not surprisingly perhaps, professional/academic development is one of the primary foci of our PDW sessions this year, followed by sessions that link management education and social issues in a variety of ways, and then by sessions focused on pedagogical practice.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that the MED welcoming reception will begin at <st1:time hour="17" minute="0">5 pm</st1:time> on Friday this year, instead of <st1:time hour="18" minute="0">6 pm</st1:time>, which should make it easier for folks to meet up with friends and colleagues for hors d’oevres before heading off to dinner.

Unfortunately, as some of you have no doubt heard, I have decided to step down from my MED leadership responsibilities for a host of reasons both personal and professional. I’m glad that I was able to play a role, however small, in furthering the division’s mission, and I regret that I won’t be able to continue to advance the division’s mission over the next several years.

If you’d like a complete schedule of the PDW sessions with which MED is affiliated at the Atlanta conference, please contact Alvin Hwang (ahwang@pace.edu), who has graciously agreed to assume my responsibilities for the remainder of the year.

    Thanks.
