  • 1.  Need Cases on Successful Organizational Change

    Posted 03-07-2006 17:47
    Greetings:

I have some students who are looking for examples of companies that were in trouble and then underwent a successful systematic organizational change.  Does anyone have any recommendations for companies to look at or know of any cases/books that have been written about such companies?

    Thanks much,
    Paula Caproni

    Dear Paula,

You might take a look at  http://www.kipnotes.com/Turnarounds.htm - books on successful turnaround situations.

    Paula,
Two that come to mind immediately are IBM when Lou Gerstner took over
and Apple with Steve Jobs reincarnation. Also you may want to look at
Ford in the late seventies, early eighties when they allowed the union
to sit on the Board, which was unique for a large company at that time.
    Hope this helps.

All of these suggestions have been very useful. Thanks to everyone who
has been providing these examples and let me know if you have any more!
I can pull together a list and post it once we get them from everyone.

    Best,
    Paula
