    Call for Nominations for the 2007 OBTS New Educator Award

     

    The Organizational Behavior Teaching Society (www.obts.org) is currently soliciting nominations for the 2007 New Educator Award.  This award recognizes an early-career person (no more than five years post Ph.D.) who is an exceptional in-class instructor and educational innovator and who has shown cutting-edge promise and creativity in his or her teaching, conference presentations, or publishing in the area of management education.

     

    The award will be presented at the 2007 Organizational Behavior Teaching Conference at Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA. Nominees need not be current OBTS members but ideally should demonstrate Society involvement in some way (e.g., past conference attendee or presenter, published author in the Journal of Management Education, committee volunteer, etc.)

     

    Nomination/Application Materials:

     

    The following materials should be sent electronically to Keith Rollag, chair of the New Educator Award selection committee, at krollag@babson.edu by January 25, 2007:

     

    a letter from the nominator (can be self-nominated) describing in detail how the nominee meets the award criteria.

     

    After the nomination has been received, the awards committee will contact the nominee and ask them to provide the following application materials by February 26, 2007:

     

    • a statement of teaching philosophy by the nominee (2-5 pages)
    • an up-to-date CV
    • several course syllabi that reflect teaching philosophy in action
    • sample feedback materials and documentation (e.g., peer reviews, student evaluations, or other documentation) of teaching commitment and effectiveness
    • a writing sample, such as an article or chapter on aspects of pedagogy, is desirable but optional, as is information on involvement in other professional or service activities that focus on teaching (e.g., reviewer/presenter at OBTS or other teaching conference, teaching journal reviewer, etc. )
