As you know, Innovate-Live webcasts offer an opportunity to interact
synchronously with authors of selected articles in the current issue of
    Innovate (http://www.innovateonline.info ), an open access e-journal
published by the Fischler School of Education and Social Services at Nova
Southeastern University. These webcasts are produced as a public service by
    our partner, ULiveandLearn (http://www.uliveandlearn.com/).

We are expanding the scope of Innovate-Live by adding a feature titled "The
Innovate-Live Discussion Series." This new webcast series will cover timely
issues around the intersection of technology and education, and can be
independent of Innovate's current content. We hope these webcasts will
spark lively discussion of the challenges and opportunities that arise when
we attempt to use information technology tools to enhance the educational
process. Like current Innovate-Live offerings, these discussions will be
archived in a link from our main page and on the Innovate-Live portal. We
hope that some discussions will make their way into Innovate as articles.

If you would like to moderate a discussion, please send me a paragraph or
two framing an issue you regard as important to the community and suggest
who would join you in the discussion (making sure that a variety of views
are represented). Or, if you do not want to moderate a session, but do want
to suggest topics that you would like to see featured, send me a note,
including, if possible, who you would recommend to lead the discussion. We
are looking specifically for timely, challenging, even controversial
issues. If your proposal is accepted for the Spring series, I will contact
you to schedule the webcast. Once the schedule is established, I will send
out a general announcement so that interested educators can register.

Deadline for proposals for the Spring series is March 15.

We have two Innovate-Live author webcasts scheduled for March 7, 2007:

    1:00 pm
Ten Core Principles for Designing Effective Learning Environments: Insights
from Brain Research and Pedagogical Theory
    http://www.innovateonline.info/index.php?view=article&id=54
    Author: Judith V. Boettcher

    4:00 pm
Online Synchronous Language Learning: SLMS over the Internet
    http://www.innovateonline.info/index.php?view=article&id=337
Authors: Yuping Wang and Nian-Sing Chen

All times are Eastern time (sync with New York). You may use the world
    clock at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/converter.html to coordinate
the time with your time zone.

If you wish to participate in these webcasts, please register at
    http://www.uliveandlearn.com/PortalInnovate/

If you cannot attend a webcast, note that it will be archived within the
features section of the article itself shortly after the event.

    Many thanks.
