The Carl A. Gerstacker Liberal Arts Institute for Professional
Management is looking for a dynamic, energetic individual to join the
Institute as Associate Director. Named for the former chairman of Dow
Chemical, the Gerstacker Institute is an endowed, nationally recognized
and highly competitive curricular and co-curricular honors program in
business and management. The Institute provides its students with
challenging coursework, career advising, networking opportunities, two
off-campus internship opportunities, and assistance with permanent job
placement.
We are looking for candidates with experience in business and strong
academic credentials. An MBA is preferred. Applicants with other
graduate degrees and those with only a Bachelors degree may be
considered depending on experience. Candidates with undergraduate
teaching experience and others qualified to hold a part-time appointment
on the faculty are especially encouraged to apply. In that regard,
Albion College and the Institute are looking to expand curricular and
co-curricular offerings related to marketing and entrepreneurship.
The Associate Director will have these areas of responsibility:
* Developing relationships with businesses and other organizations
where our students will have opportunities for internships and permanent
placements and where the Institute will have access to the latest in
management practice.
* Providing career advising and counseling to students. Part of
this role will be to help identify the kinds of opportunities students
seek so that external relationships can be developed to help them pursue
their goals.
* Assisting in the recruitment of highly qualified students to the
Institute.
* Teaching classes in the academic curriculum (if qualified).
This is a full-time 12 month position. Some travel is required.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
This is a grant funded position with funding guaranteed through June
2009 and likely to be on-going.
Albion College is a selective, nationally-ranked liberal arts college
of about 1950 students located in a racially diverse college town in
south central Michigan, about an hour from major universities in Ann
Arbor, Kalamazoo, and East Lansing.
