2008 <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> Division Professional Development Workshops: Call for Proposals

The questions we ask and the questions we teach our students to ask will be critical for the future.  For our 2008 PDW program, we are encouraging creative and innovative sessions in which participants can work together to enrich their teaching and research skills.  In particular, we encourage proposals that:

    •         are jointly sponsored by two or more AOM divisions or interest groups

    •         include non-US based colleagues

    •         include practitioners, as well as academics

<st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> is committed to enhancing the value and effectiveness of pedagogy and pedagogical research, thus we encourage sessions on topics such as teaching philosophy, measuring effective learning, or developing a teaching portfolio.  <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> is also committed to providing developmental opportunities for doctoral students and junior faculty with new innovative ideas.  Finally, we encourage submission focused on the conference theme – "The Questions we ask."

What questions should we be asking of ourselves to improve the learning in our classes?

What questions should we instill in our students to improve their moral and ethical leadership toward world justice and environmental protection?

What questions should we use to challenge our colleagues to do better in serving our profession to be better leaders/servants?

While others ask why, we in <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> should dare the impossible as ask why not!

All proposals will be considered with regard to potential contributions to <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> and broader interest to academy members.  For further information and discussion, contact <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> PDW Chair Kenneth R. Thompson via email (kthompso@depaul.edu).  We challenge you to "Ask the Question" and Challenge our thinking!  Let's dare to push to new answers!  We encourage you participation in the <st1:stockticker w:st="on">MED</st1:stockticker> Division PDWs for 2008.  Dare to Question!
